Davos is one of those great resorts which is situated in the valley, surrounded on all sides by the magnificent and impressive mountains of the Alps. It's location means that it is easily accessible by train. Davos loves their trains so much that they were some of the first people to build a railway up the mountain to help skiers get to the peaks; although these railways are not necessary nowadays, the trip up is exciting, extremely comfortable and sometimes very romantic at dusk.
Davos is known for its lively nightlife, especially in comparison to neighbouring Klosters. If you fancy feeling like royalty on your holiday, it is very easy to pop over to Davos' prestigious neighbour to experience some of the high life in their fancy restaurants and bars.
The skiing in Davos offers a lot for everyone, although there is not a wide selection of choice for beginners, Klosters adds more variety and options of gentle piste and some off piste that is hardly ever touched. The Pischa mountain is renowned for its freeride section, although many itinerary runs have been closed off in recent years. The off piste down Jakobshorn and Madrisa are great fun when the powder is at a good level too. Davos has a fairly reliable amount of snowfall every year, although it does not compare to all resorts. The other mountains provide great intermediate and easy black runs that are perfect for families or less experienced skiers, and the views will never disappoint.
