Mountain Restaurant Guide Val d'Isère

L'Edelweiss Restaurant

This exceptional restaurant is perfectly situated on the Mangard piste which can be easily accessed on the way back down into Le Fornet; perfect for a long, late afternoon lunch. The Edelweiss serves excellent French cuisine and has a large section of fine wines. The restaurant itself is warmly decorated in a traditional alpine style and is a lovely cosy place to dine if the weather outside is unpleasant.

Equally good is the large terrace if the sun is shining; whatever the weather this is a wonderful place to dine. L'Edelweiss is well known around the resort for its inventive duck and foie gras burger; it may be heart attack inducing but it will probably be one of the best burgers you ever taste! If that doesn’t appeal to you the menu features many other gourmet delicacies including an incredible tartiflette and fresh seafood pasta.

It is recommended that you book in advance as this is probably the most popular eatery on the mountain. Due to its popularity this restaurant can get very busy and loud which creates a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. One slight drawback is that the tables are very close together which can invade your personal space a little. However, don't let that put you off, the food, service, and location are all perfect and L'Edelweiss should definitely be on your list of places to go in Val d’Isere.

Le Signal

Haute cuisine, warm service, and some of the best views in l' Espace Killy; Le Signal is one of the few mountain restaurants where all your expectations are surpassed. Located at the top of the cable car from Le Fornet this restaurant has one of the best locations in Val d’Isere, it is also very easy for pedestrians to access with only a short walk across the snow from the gondola station to the restaurant.

Le Signal’s fine dining restaurant is located on the first floor and has a vast range of fine French cuisine with some interesting twists. The Croustillant de Thon in a Korean sauce is an excellent example of the creative and delicate food available from the menu. The wine list is extensive and has something to suit every palate; for wine enthusiasts Le Signal has a fantastic selection of Rhone Valley wines.

If you like your lunches quick and substantial there is a self-service restaurant on the ground floor which serves simple but delicious soups, salads, and hot dishes of the day. Le Signal is well known for its decadent and rich desserts including a chocolate pudding that resembles a giant mushroom; great for sharing. Because of its location Le Signal can get very busy and sometimes it’s almost impossible to get a reservation. We recommend booking at the beginning of your holiday for later on in the week.

Le Bellevarde restaurant

Le Bellevarde restaurant is proudly perched at the top of the daunting face of Bellevarde and Olympic ski slope. The food is a delicious blend of French and European cuisine with some creative twists thrown in. The interesting Savoyard sushi comes highly recommend and is the perfect little plate to enjoy as a starter or on its own as a main. The stimulating flavours really make lunch at Le Bellrvarde an absolute delight.

The fine dining restaurant is situated on the first floor with the ground floor consisting of a self-service restaurant which is perfect if you don’t want to spend a minute away from the slopes! The first floor terrace on a sunny day is absolute heaven and offers incredible views of the Grand Paradis massifs. On a cold day warm up in the cosy lounge next to the roaring fire; the restaurant has a large array of mouth-watering digestives. Reserve a table in advance to avoid disappointment.

Many of the black runs have recently been converted to ‘naturides’, which means they are never groomed and offer leg-aching moguls or deep fresh powder while still being safe, marked, and avalanche protected.
