Restaurant Guide Lech
Hus Nr 8Hus Nr 8 is one of the few restaurants in Lech that is not attached to a hotel and this definitely adds to its individuality and authentic ambience. This place is a must-visit if you want to try traditional Austrian food in matching surroundings. One recent reviewer likened this place to 'hobbit-ville' which we think is a spot-on description! The waiters and waitresses are clad in traditional dress which comes across as quaint without seeming tacky. Try the Tafelspitz (boiled beef in broth, served with horseradish as it is considered to be the national dish of Austria), it comes highly recommended and looks delicious. The restaurant is very small with low ceilings and can get very busy; we recommend you book at least a week in advance. It can also get rather stuffy and hot with people cooking their meat on hot stones at their tables. We would recommend sitting near a window and asking them to open it if it gets a little bit claustrophobic. You should definitely visit this little place at least once on your visit to Lech, you certainly will not be disappointed.
FuxThis modern restaurant is split into two sections; Asian fusion and a steak house. Both sections come highly recommended and the service is good throughout. The wine list is unparalleled in Lech and extends to most of the world's top growths. If you are not a wine connoisseur you might find it a little baffling and most of the wines are extremely expensive. However, if you ask the staff they will be more than willing to help you make an informed choice. The cod fish starter is absolute perfection, as is the lamb dish. This restaurant can either be extremely busy or awfully quiet which many people will find rather awkward. When the restaurant is really busy be prepared to wait over an hour for your meal.
Gasthof PostThe food that comes out of the Gasthof Post is truly a work of art. This aesthetically pleasing food also features incredible flavours and divine combinations. The service is formal while retaining a friendly atmosphere which is not often achieved with high-standard restaurants. The menu is available in a vast array of languages so wherever you are from, you will feel welcome and catered for. The restaurant features a smaller room which is perfect if you are with a large party or want to organise a special occasion; the open fire here creates a lovely atmosphere. The lobster and salmon starters are just beautifully done and make sure you leave room for the delicious pancakes in plum sauce for dessert.
Griggeler StubaThe Griggeler Stuba is fantastic due to a combination of things including; an inspiring head chef, excellent ingredients, creative combinations, and a refined atmosphere. This restaurant is a delight to dine in and you will be extremely impressed with the service, food, and ambience. This restaurant is also a multi-award winning establishment and has even been awarded three Gault Millau toques. The head chef has impressively released his own successful cookery book. Your taste buds will be overwhelmingly excited by the cuisine; this is an excellent place to visit if you are a true foodie. When the restaurant is busy service can be rather slow but it really is worth the wait. We all know that quality food takes time.
What We Like
Hus Nr 8
This is a fantastic traditional restaurant, with great food, charming service and a perfect atmosphere. Try the national dishes of Austria and you will not be disappointed.
A brilliant event like no other. This artistic extravaganza involves gondola cinemas and live DJs and bands in lift stations. The atmosphere is electric and should not be missed.
Dance Café Arlberg
Party like they did in the 60s. This retro après party is an exceptional event in the Lech calendar. The atmosphere is carefree and entry is free. A throw-back of the glamorous years of skiing of the past.
