Davos Events Guide

Spengler Cup – 26th December to 31st of December 2013

The Spengler Cup held in Davos, is the world’s oldest and most renowned international ice hockey tournament and something you definitely should not miss should you find yourself in Klosters around Christmas and New Year. The event has a tremendous budget, is extremely popular, and exudes glamour and excitement. Players and spectators come from all over the world to witness this exhilarating event. It can, however, get rather violent (in a fun way) but perhaps warn small children in advance. This is a truly great and historic event that should not be missed.

Art on Ice – 7th and 8th of March 2014

Ice skating champions and international music stars combine their talents to produce the spectacular ‘Art on Ice’ in the Davos stadium. This 17-year old event has become the most celebrated and beautiful figure skating event in the world and is a must-see if you are planning a trip to Klosters in March. Olympic champions join the likes of Leona Lewis and Seal in a splendid display of raw talent. This is a great night out for the whole family although some may find it slightly cheesy so if you prefer more refined entertainment then this is perhaps not for you. The VIP tickets are perfect if you want to make the most of the evening and include champagne and a three course dinner at the Hotel Grischa.

Parsenn Derby – 7th to 9th of March 2014

The Parsenn Derby in Davos is one of Switzerland's oldest and most traditional ski races where Professionals and amateurs compete in individual and team races, testing themselves at extremely high speeds. The race first took place in 1924 and since then, all over the world people have travelled to complete and test themselves. The fun and exciting team races are held on the Saturday while the more serious individual races are held on Sunday. A fun weekend made even better if you choose to enter, the after parties are also well worth a visit.

O’Neill Evolution

Freestyle snowboarding might not be everybody’s cup of tea but no one can deny that this is an absolutely spectacular event. The O’Neill Evolution is truly a sight to behold, not only does the competition involve death defying stunts, they also hold a "Big Air X-Rail" event where boarders jump from a 20-metre high jump onto a rail; this really is an event that will entertain the whole family. The observation area provides a close-up view of the action, where you can really appreciate the skill and courage of the competitors, the $100’000 prize money certainly encourages them to push themselves to the limits! This is the perfect event to enjoy after a morning skiing and a long lunch.
