Mountain Restaurant Guide Davos

Restaurant Weissfluhgipfel

Davos' restricted options for mountain dining mean that sometimes you have to compromise on the quality of your lunch, at the Weissfluhgipfel, however, this is not necessary. Due to the fact that it is one of the best restaurants on Davos mountain, it is essential to book in advance, because the alternatives may not satisfy your palate in quite the same way. The breath-taking views of the Bünder Alps will help you settle back and relax into a lazy lunch. Like most restaurants on the mountain Weissfluhgipfel favours traditional Alpine cuisine, but you must appreciate that the style of food is common in the mountains for a reason; it will warm you up after skiing through the bitter winds, and will fill you up for the journey home. Make sure you try some of the rösti and the cheeses as they really are exquisite here. However, if you are sick of the stodgy Alpine food, then take advantage of the other gourmet specialities on offer. The Russian pizza with crème fraîche and caviar is delicious, yet the poached turbot on cabbage is equally good. You will also find a good list of premium wines, especially from the Alpine regions of France, Italy and Spain. It is situated within easy access of the cable car from Weissfluhjoch, which makes it possible for non-skiers to join you for lunch.

Höhenweg Restaurant

This restaurant is perfectly positioned at the middle section of the fast Parsenn chairlift, with such easy access, you cannot complain about the location. Also, if you wish to indulge in a long lunch, you can exit Höhenweg when you are done and head straight down on the run to Davos town. The giant terrace cannot be beaten as a place to soak up the sun on a hot afternoon; it has seating available for up to 500 people with an impressive circular bar in the midst of the patio, at which you can order your afternoon cocktails. The inside restaurant is also very spacious, however, we still recommend that you book in advance to get a well positioned table. The speciality at Höhenweg is definitely the pizza which is hand-made in Pizzaiolo. Other dishes are superb here too, one of our favourite aspects of this fine restaurant is that their menu changes daily; which means you can enjoy the great location and views several days of your holiday with varying choices of food.

Snow Beach Restaurant

This is the place to be seen enjoying a casual mountain lunch in Davos. The restaurant is situated within the prestigious and glamorous Berghotel Schatzalp, with some of the most spectacular views that any restaurant has to offer of Davos and the mountain ranges beyond. The restaurant is a plethora of white, cream and beige style; in complete contrast to the wooden mountain style that most other restaurants favour in the Alps. The restaurant is open-air so is perfect for a sunny day, but they also provide some lovely quilts and wraps which will protect you from the winter chill on those cold days. The food here is top-quality and befitting with the style of the hotel; the cuisine has a sound traditional basis but with a flair for originality. You would be able to spend many enjoyable hours at the Berghotel so we highly recommend this restaurant if you are a fan of long lazy lunches; you can wander through the halls peeking into the various lounges and bars. Afternoon tea can also be a treat on the Snow Beach Terrace if you are keen for coffee and cake. The biggest shame about this restaurant is that it is not part of a large ski area so its situation is not ideal for enthusiastic skiers as you have to come back to town in order to get up to Schatzalp for lunch. There are some nice blue runs and lots of cross country around the area however, and it is always a plus when you can find a restaurant to lunch in that is so easily accessible for non-skiers.
