Après Ski Bars in Davos
JatzhütteThis crazy bar was born over 20 years ago and now has a large cult following and has been named one of the best après ski bars in the alps. Barbara Bachmann was well ahead of time in 1988 when she embarked on the adventure of creating an incredibly fun après ski bar. From the onset the Jazhutte was all about fun; filled with palm trees, Jacuzzis, hundreds of deck chairs, and a party atmosphere. The best parties in Zermatt have always been right here. There are three separate Jatzhütte bars each of them filled with them same amount of energy and excitement. The outdoor snow bar pumps out music from the early afternoon to late in the evening. Keep an eye on the latest events schedule that can be found on the Jatzhütte website. This bar has the best theme nights in the area, including the legendary Full Moon Party and brilliant cheese fondue party – make sure you don’t miss them. We also highly recommend the restaurant for a late afternoon après snack; the wok dishes and homemade cakes are divine. This is the perfect place to visit if the sun is shining and you are in the mood to party. If not, we recommend heading to one of the other cosy, rustic cabins on the mountain for a quiet drink after a day on the slopes.
Montana BarThe historic art nouveau Montana Bar is located next the Davos Dorf railway station and is a local’s favourite with a fantastic range of drinks and great music. This beautiful bar is over 100 years old and the atmosphere is elegant and refined; a delightful place for a drink before dinner. The clientele is a mix of the beautiful and the rich from around the world and is a wonderful place to rub shoulders and network with the Davos elite. The live music starts at four in the afternoon and carries on until late in the evening. The Montana bar is the perfect meeting point as its location is very central and if you want to tour all the best bars in Davos we recommend starting with a laid back drink here; a great way to begin an indulgent bar crawl! The wine selection is excellent and they have an extensive collection of fine whiskeys. They also have an interesting collection of cocktails which are also worth a try. Please note that this bar allows smoking which may put some patrons off. Come here for the relaxed ‘old world’ atmosphere and stay for the great music and wonderful wine.
The Alpina BarThe Alpina Bar which is situated in the Alpina Hotel is a popular place to kick-back and relax. With their beautiful, sunny terrace looking out on the street, it is the perfect place to people-watch, and this is one of those places where people-watching actually pays off. This bar is situated in Klosters and is well worth a visit if you have been skiing in the area. The terrace is stuffed full of comfy armchairs (no stiff outside furniture here); or if you prefer some sunbathing, they have sun loungers here that are to die for. If the weather is not so favourable, the inside bar at the Alpina Hotel manages to combine cosy and chic. It is a good choice for après ski as it is located right next to the railway station that will take you back to Davos. Be careful though, the Alpina Bar, like many of Klosters après ski favourites, is not for rowdy drinking and dancing. The Alpina Bar is perfect for grown-up and relaxed people to unwind and rest their legs after a hard days skiing. If you are itching for a spa session after your drink, then the Alpina Bar is the right place to be as it offers some great spa facilities and a swimming pool.
