Restaurant Guide Courchevel

Pierre Gagnaire at Les Airelles

Courchevel has a staggering 7 restaurants with Michelin star status and 3 which have been awarded 2 Michelin stars. Courchevel has the most Michelin star restaurants than any other ski resort in the world. Competition between these fine dining eateries is tough but when Les Airelles managed to bag world famous celebrity chef Pierre Gagnaire it really raised this restaurant into up into the top spot to be seen in Courchevel.

The dining area has an opulent alpine feel combined with dark, moody lighting and lavish furniture. The restaurant has a regal essence which is compounded by extravagant chandeliers, deep silk walls, and exquisite antique tableware.

The food, as is to be expected, is divine. Before Pierre Gagnaire came to Courchevel he was awarded a mighty 3 Michelin stars at his restaurant in Paris and his skilfulness, thought, and creativity is very apparent in the menu. The a la carte dinner menu begins with sea urchin, translucent scallops and a dollop of caviar and continues in this wonderful fashion throughout your meal. This restaurant is very expensive but when you consider the standard of food that is being served it is well worth the investment.

Le Chabichou

Le Chabichou is another two michelin star establishment set in the magnificent white Le Chabichou hotel. The more informal part of the dining resembles an old farmhouse with plaid trimmings and a cosy bar area. This is a great place to enjoy a splendid whiskey cocktail beside the fire before your meal.

In the main dining area the décor is more formal with a delicately carved ceiling and magnificent chandeliers, reserve a table next to the window as the view is divine. Opt for the Menu Passionnément to explore an array of creative and delicate flavours in every dish. This option is €105 per person which we think is great value for an evening of fine dining in exquisite surroundings.

Le Chabichou is favoured by celebrities, royalty, and frequent Courchevel visitors from all over the world so reservations should be booked as far in advance as possible. The dishes come in small portions but there are so many courses that we can guarantee you that even those with hearty appetites with leave satisfied. Evening entertainment is also normally provided, so sit back with a cocktail and enjoy the live jazz at the end of your meal.

IL VINO d’Enrico Bernardo

This is a restaurant with a difference; it has created a completely new concept that changes the way in which we dine. This establishment describes itself as a ‘Wine Restaurant’; the menu does not feature food, only wine.

The idea is that the customer chooses the wine at the table then one of the top chefs in the kitchen prepares the perfect dish to match the chosen wine. You will be astonished at the flavours you discover with the flawless food and wine marriage. All the ingredients used are sourced locally and the dishes served change depending on seasonal produce.

Many will find this an extraordinary concept that opens their eyes to a new world of exciting flavours and creations. However, those who are less experimental with their food may be disappointed and not knowing what food you will receive is quite difficult to get your head around. However, we suggest that everyone at some point in their lifetime should try this unique and exciting way of dining.
