Mountain Restaurant Guide Courchevel
Le Chalet de Pierres
This restaurant is the epitome of decadent mountain dining. The décor is truly stunning and as soon as you set eyes upon this place you will realise that you are in for something special. The dazzling chandeliers, panoramic views, and cozy alcoves will make you never want to leave.
This is the perfect place to stop for a quick rest in-between runs; order one of their indulgent hot chocolates (many people claim they make the best in the world) and relax in the lounge by the fire. If you want something more substantial Le Chalet de Pierres serves some of the best mountain food in the three vallies. The Alaskan king crab legs are cooked to perfection and one portion can feed as many as four people (dependent on appetite)! Another must-try is the mashed potato with black truffle; a simple side which is expertly executed and filled with large chunks of delicious truffle. Dessert is selected from a large trolley of freshly made treats; we guarantee that you won’t be able to refuse them!
The terrace outside is nice but you do miss out on experiencing the full enchanting atmosphere of the restaurant inside, thus we suggest that this is the perfect place to stop for lunch if the weather is overcast or snowing.
La Soucoupe is a rustic beauty located at the top of La Loze. This restaurant is famed for its flame grilled specialties which are cooked on an open fire in the dining area. You can choose from a large selection of the finest cuts of meats and creative kebab combinations which are then expertly grilled in front of you. All dishes are served with delicious fresh vegetables and potatoes.
There is an excellent selection of wine and the staff are very knowledgeable about the best food and wine combinations. If you are looking for a fun and relaxing afternoon La Soucoupe has an incredible atmosphere. Quite often later in the afternoon the DJ will turn the music up a few notches and all the staff will join you for a late afternoon party on the deck. You will also be given slippers and baseball caps (if sitting outside) to ensure that you can comfortably enjoy your afternoon. The little touches make this restaurant really special and somewhere you will want to revisit again and again.
Le Bel Air
Le Bel Air is situated in a prime location at the top of the Ariondaz lift and offers great food as well as incredible views. This is a large restaurant that can comfortably seat over 240 people over lunch but this does not impact of the quality of service or food. In fact, it is well renowned for having some of the best service in Courchevel.
The maitre d' will greet you like an old friend and instantly you will feel relaxed and welcome in this beautiful restaurant. Although quite simple the food is delicious and included in the price is a Bel Air salad starter which is brilliant little added extra.
Try the Savoyard omelette which is a big, hearty choice that will set you up for an afternoon of skiing. Equally good are the lamb chops and steaks. Staple ski food such as burgers and pizzas are also available. Ask a local where to eat on the mountain and they will usually say Le Bel Air and the locals always know best.
