There has never been anything like the W Hotel in Verbier before; nothing so big, central and stylish. This new establishment is the first of its kind for the hotel chain as well, as it is their first Alpine venture; and we do not think they could have chosen a better town to start in. Verbier provides the ideal location; having lots of space just next to the main lift station which has ideally been transformed into the various complexes that make up the hotel. The piste has even been extended to arrive at the front door, enabling you to stop right outside their sophisticated and chic après ski venue: 'The Living Room'.
Although the W Verbier is going to offer a range of delightful facilities to the public, including a fully-equipped spa, shopping areas and a glamorous night-club with well-renowned DJs; we are more interested in how this new establishment will affect Verbier itself. Verbier has always exuded luxury whilst also attracting some serious extreme skiers. The exceptional skiing in the 4 Valleys means that in the past not all of Verbier's establishments have focused on providing exceptionally high quality and glamorous atmospheres. However, with the coming of the 'W Verbier', we expect to find a dramatic difference in the image that Verbier portrays to the world. Already we have observed that several bars in the town which have previously been considered 'seasonaire', are already adapting their styles to suit this newer, chicer Verbier.
What we love about this new 'W Verbier', is that their 130 glamorous rooms and suites, mean that the competition over the most luxurious chalets in Verbier to rent in the winter will be lessened massively; giving us first choice over many more of the most impressive chalets around. Some people are understandably very cynical about this new and major complex, but we cannot help being excited about the changes that this new business will bring to Verbier's image and popularity. The 'W Verbier', splashes a big load of style and sophistication right into the centre of the town, something we are always going to be thrilled about; and who doesn't want more chic locations to sip cocktails in after a beautiful day of skiing?
